New Possible’s British Recruitment Awards sets out to discover and celebrate the organisations that are truly passionate about recruitment’s role in building a thriving organisation.
In our ‘Sharing Success’ series, we interview British Recruitment Awards Winners to shine a light on the inspiring projects that are improving workplaces across the UK and beyond. In this article we interview Georgie Lynksey at G.Digital, Winner of the 2024 ‘Leader of the Year (Agency)’ category.
Closing the Gender Gap
Georgie Lynskey is the Founder and Director of G.Digital and its non-profit sister brand G&T (Girls and Tech!). Establishing G.Digital in 2020 with no outside funding and minimal resources, Georgie has built a seven-figure recruitment agency specialising in tech placements, with an impressive 85% female placement rate. Her agency is trusted for its selective partnerships and community-first approach, ensuring candidates are matched with companies that prioritise inclusion and career growth.
Beyond G.Digital, Georgie launched G&T, the largest women-in-tech community in the North of England, hosting over 3,000 women at networking events and amplifying their voices through media features on BBC and Channel 4. She further expanded her impact with G&TT (Girls and Tech of Tomorrow!), an initiative aimed at tackling the gender gap in tech at grassroots levels. These workshops provide CV, LinkedIn, and interview training alongside inspiring talks from industry leaders, directly placing young women into tech roles without placement fees.
When asked about the inspiration behind G&T (Girls and Tech!), Georgie said: “G&T (Girls and Tech!) was founded with the primary mission to empower women and girls by providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in the tech industry. The inspiration behind G&T came from a recognition that there was a significant gender gap in the technology field, with women being underrepresented in both tech education and tech careers. By creating a welcoming and inclusive space for women to learn, grow, and connect, G&T aimed to break down the barriers that prevent women from pursuing careers in technology.
The idea was simple: create a community that would encourage women to get involved with tech, offer mentorship, create opportunities for networking, and provide access to educational resources. The founders of G&T recognised that visibility and community support were key to fostering interest in tech among women, and they focused on creating events and programmes that would inspire and support women from all backgrounds.
Over time, G&T has grown to become the largest female tech community in the North, thanks to its commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for women in tech.”
Georgie also mentioned the following factors which contributed to the success of G&T:
- Building a Supportive Community: G&T has built a network of like-minded individuals who share a passion for technology and a commitment to gender equality. This network has expanded as more women have joined, attended events, and participated in mentorship programmes.
- Focus on Education and Empowerment: The organisation offers workshops, coding boot camps, and educational events that help women and girls build tech skills and gain confidence in their abilities. These programmes are designed to make tech more accessible to women of all skill levels.
- Inspiring Role Models and Mentors: G&T's mentorship initiative empowers successful women in tech to give back by mentoring the next generation. This program not only helps women develop technical skills but also offers valuable career advice and guidance.
- Partnerships and Collaborations: G&T has partnered with tech companies, educational institutions, and other organisations to create a broader platform for its members. These partnerships provide women with greater access to career opportunities and networking.
- Events and Conferences: From meetups to large-scale conferences, G&T hosts numerous events that bring together women in the tech industry. These events allow members to learn from experts, share ideas, and build relationships that can further their careers.
- Media and Public Engagement: G&T’s visibility has been boosted through social media, blogs, and press coverage, helping to spread the message about the importance of women in tech. Their impact has been further amplified by showcasing the stories and successes of their members.
Georgie’s leadership has been recognised at national and international levels. Georgie has spoken at Barclays HQ on the importance of women-in-tech communities, led diversity and inclusion sessions at KPMG, and represented Yorkshire women in tech at the House of Lords. Under her leadership, G.Digital achieved an 815% turnover increase, expanded into the U.S., and joined Barclays’ prestigious Scaleup Programme.
When asked what factors have been key to scaling G.Digital, and how Georgie maintained quality during this rapid growth, Georgie commented: “For us, it’s always been about the people. We only hire Senior & Principal Consultants who are genuine experts in their field, enabling us to collectively provide the very best level of service for both our candidates and clients. By having a genuine USP and value add proposition to our clients, we’re able to focus our efforts on businesses that genuinely care about making a difference, building diverse tech teams and pathing the way for future generations.”

We are excited to host G&T (girls and tech!) events across all corners of the world and expand our sisterhood across every continent.
